The Phi Phi Islands tour is the most popular one-day sea trip from Phuket and the absolute bestseller among all the excursions we arrange for our guests. In a single day you visit three signature points of the archipelago: the legendary Maya Bay made famous by the film The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio, the hidden Pi-Leh Lagoon with its turquoise water and overhanging limestone cliffs, and the atmospheric Phi Phi Don island with white beaches, tropical greenery and the iconic Tonsai pier view.

The route is built so that you get the maximum impressions with minimum transfers. A speedboat picks the group up at a pier on the east coast of Phuket and reaches the first stop in about an hour — Pi-Leh, the Green Lagoon, where time seems to stop among the vertical walls and still water. The first underwater shots happen here, masks and snorkels are handed out, and the snorkelling instructor briefs the group. Next stops are Loh Samah, a natural channel between the cliffs, and Viking Cave — a cliff cave where locals have been collecting edible swallow nests for centuries.
03The peak of the day is the entrance to Maya Bay itself
After its closure and rehabilitation in 2018–2022 the Thai authorities strictly regulate the access: there are hourly visitor caps, swimming inside the main bay is banned, and the time on the beach is limited. That is exactly why a private or small-group format is critical — it lets you arrive at the right window with fewer people and capture real shots instead of fighting the crowd.

After the beach part the boat moves to the open sea for snorkelling at Phi Phi Leh island. The water is clear even in the rainy season and the coral gardens are home to schools of parrotfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, moray eels and clownfish. With luck you can see peaceful black-tip reef sharks about a metre long — they are harmless to humans and are an indicator of a healthy reef.

Lunch is served on Phi Phi Don in an open-air restaurant overlooking the pier. The menu is Thai buffet style: seafood, vegetables, tropical fruit, jasmine rice, noodles, classic Thai starters, tea and water. After lunch you have free time on Loh Dalum or Tonsai beach: a fresh coconut, photos at the famous Phi Phi swing, a swim or simply some palm-tree shade.

On the way back the boat stops at Khai Nai — a small sandy island with a shallow turquoise shelf. It is the perfect spot for the last photos and a final swim, especially for families with kids: gentle entry, sandy bottom, almost no waves. Return to Phuket is around 16:30–17:30, followed by hotel drop-off.

08What to bring
passport or a copy for National Park registration (entry without ID is not allowed), swimwear and a change of clothes, towel, reef-safe sunscreen — regular oxybenzone-based creams are banned in coral zones, hat and sunglasses, waterproof phone pouch. Cash in baht for souvenirs, coconuts and an optional kayak rental or pier-side massage on Phi Phi.

Suitable for kids and seniors? Yes — the tour is comfortable for children from 4 years old and for senior guests. The route avoids long walks, the boat has shade, padded seats and a toilet. For toddlers under 4, pregnant guests or anyone with a sensitive back we recommend a private boat: it leaves an hour later, runs at a softer pace, has no strangers on board and lets you adjust the program live.
10Seasonality
The tour runs all year, but Maya Bay is open only in the dry season (October–May): in summer it is closed for coral recovery. In the rainy season (June–September) we do not cancel — we route along the leeward side and through protected lagoons; rough sea here is very rare and underwater visibility stays good. After every booking we message you on WhatsApp the day before departure to confirm weather, pickup time and the final route based on tides and National Park rules.
